Statistics indicate that 1 in 4 individuals are affected by some sort of mental health problems every year. The root cause for these problems is low self esteem and pessimistic attitude. Basically, mental health problems and physical problems are similar. When we’re ill, our physical body fights against illness, similarly when we have problems, we must be strong mentally to fight against the problems and retain our mental and emotional health.
Depression makes you feel hopeless and helpless. It is usual if it occurs due to circumstances (loss of loved ones / job etc…) and it would last for few days. But if the condition persists for quite a long time and if the person becomes unable to manage even his day to day activities, it becomes a mental disorder. When people lack confidence and optimism, they are more vulnerable to depression. Individuals might become victims or become more susceptible to several other mental disorders such as anxiety disorders, OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) and phobias and so on when they are not able to retain their positive attitude.
