More details on Mukai Osamu’s upcoming movie!

Previously, tokyohive reported that popular actor Mukai Osamu will star in a leading role for the first time. More details about the upcoming movie have just been revealed!
The title of the movie is called (a little unusually), “Bokutachi wa Sekai wo Kaerukotoga Dekinai, But, We wanna build a school in Cambodia.”  It’s based on a book published privately in 2008 by a student of Nippon Medical School, Hada Kota. Kota described his vivid memories in building a school in Cambodia with his colleagues.
They started a campaign to raise funds after knowing that ¥1,500,000 ($18,465 USD) could build a school in Cambodia. The group also visited Cambodia as volunteers. Although they started it without giving it much thought, the volunteers became more invested in the project after seeing the horrors of civil war in Cambodia with their own eyes.
Despite the private publication, the book sold 5,000 copies, and it caught a producer’s eye. Mukai was casted after it was learned that he stayed in Cambodia for the TV show, “Sekai Ururun Taizaiki” in 2007.  Interestingly enough, Mukai stayed there with his host family, and helped extract land mines and cultivate mango patches alongside them.  Mukai has confessed that the host family is like his precious second family.
According to Sanspo, Mukai received many offers, however, he chose this project because he said that nobody besides him could play that role.  The shoot in Cambodia will start in the middle of November, and the movie will be released sometime in Fall 2011.
